Pub ordering system guide
Table ordering, bar routing and collection for pub operations.
Why pub ordering is not restaurant ordering
Pubs operate across multiple ordering moments: table service, bar service, food-only and drinks-only orders. A pub ordering system must route drinks to the bar and food to the kitchen without splitting the bill incorrectly.
Key workflows
- QR table ordering for food and drinks.
- Station-based split printing: bar and kitchen.
- Collection and click-and-collect for food.
- Tab and pay-at-table configurations where supported.
Example: one table, two preparation stations
For an order containing two drinks and a burger, send the drinks ticket to the bar and the burger ticket to the kitchen. Both tickets need the same table identifier and order reference. Confirm that routing creates the correct preparation tickets while the customer sees a single order total.
Manage tables and service areas
Use a unique table identifier for each QR code, including garden and terrace tables. Check that staff can locate every identifier before service begins. Explain whether customers pay when ordering or settle a tab, and confirm any tab configuration during setup rather than assuming it is enabled.
Pre-service checks
- Place a drinks-only order and confirm it reaches the bar.
- Place a food-only order and confirm it reaches the kitchen.
- Place a mixed order and check both tickets, the table identifier and the total charged.
- Check collection orders have a collection reference rather than a table number.
