Online ordering system for Indian takeaways and restaurants

Spice levels, dietary tags, set meals and allergy information — configured for the way Indian menus actually work.

What Indian menus need

  • Spice levels as a modifier group, not free text.
  • Dietary tags (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) and allergen notes (nuts, dairy) at item level, filterable by the customer.
  • Set meals and thalis with configurable components and swaps.
  • Sides and accompaniments as upsells, especially rice, naan and raita.

Menu structure

Indian menus are long and category-heavy. The system supports multiple menu categories, item-level modifiers, and scheduled menus for lunch and dinner. Items that sell out (specific curries, biryanis) can be paused per item.

Allergen and dietary information

Under UK food law, allergen information must be available before purchase. The system supports allergen tags at item and modifier level, so customers can filter to dishes that meet their requirements. More reliable than a PDF menu because it reflects the current menu.

Operational note: Spice instructions must reach the kitchen on the ticket. Free-text “spicy please” notes are unreliable; a structured modifier is not.
